‘Hallow Under’ is the eponymous debut from the soul-meld of Drew Sullivan (Slow Dancing Society) and Ludvig Cimbrelius (Purl). Across oceans and continents these seasoned musical visionaries patiently distill dreamlike songs out of the ethers together, sometimes with year-long pauses between sessions.

When first connecting musically, Drew and Ludvig shared an experience of instant recognition in hearing the others’ sound, like once again hearing a familiar voice after eons apart. The first musical offspring from their reconnection unfolds like a comforting dream across four acts.

Steadily carried forward by the near-infinite valleys of shimmering drones, ‘Hallow Under’ is an invitation to drop into our own heartspace. Paint strokes of electric guitar, acoustic piano and glimpses of Ludvig’s siren-like vocals all blend together on the canvas, on top of a foundation of warm drones and hovering bass. Through the slowly oscillating waves of emotional intensity, the atmosphere of tenderness remains the resting place throughout the songs. Endings very easily disappear into beginnings on this album that can effortlessly serve as an overnight companion if played on repeat.
